Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2020 Haut Bergey strides out of the glass with notes of stewed black and red plums, baked blackberries and Morello cherries, plus touches of tar, unsmoked cigars and charcuterie with a touch of bay leaves. The medium-bodied palate has a pleasant chewiness and just enough freshness to frame the black fruit layers, finishing long and savory.

A perfumed, exotic, complex beauty, the 2020 Château Haut-Bergey has loads of ripe black cherry and almost blue fruits as well as notes of leafy herbs, chocolate, and damp earth. This textured, medium to full-bodied, fruit-forward Pessac is well worth enjoying over the coming decade.

This rich organic wine from one of the top estates in Pessac-Léognan is full of potential. Its ripe tannins come through smoky wood flavors and dark black fruits. Drink this serious wine from 2026.
