The 2021 Ürziger Würzgarten Spätlese is coolish, clear and herbal on the nose, with ripe bright fruit and flinty terroir aromas. Good intensity. Lush and round yet also tangy and savory on the palate, this is a seductive and crystalline, saline and elegant Würzgarten that will come out as a long-distance runner. Tasted as a sample ready to be bottled in July 2022.

This is very graceful, but shows good concentration of flavors, featuring nectarine, mango and lime notes that are electrified by the acidity. It picks up on richness midpalate, and its flavors are intensified by a finish that lingers and leaves a mineral note.

Despite the rich, ripe profile, this shows serious savory character, with green tea, spicy white pepper and smoked celery seed infusing a base of green plum, kiwi and clementine. Long and silky. Drink now through 2031. 1,000 cases made, 500 cases imported.
